Post Workout Blog:
Race didn’t go too well. I went through the first 5K in around 15:12, which was right on pace. However, it just didn’t feel right. Even the first couple of k didn’t feel normal. It feels like my body is fighting a bug, which it likely is. The 2-3% energy lost to fighting this was taken away from my race, leaving me to feel slightly sluggish. I really wanted to do something special here. I wasn’t just “happy to be here.” I mean sure, yes, I was really happy to be there and to represent my country, but I would have liked to do something big. I have big hopes and dreams for the future, and will be back.

In Valencia!

Post Workout Blog:
This was perhaps the nicest man-made trail I have ever run on! It is huge! There are a ton of soft trails that run through endless parks, observatories, artwork, and more. I couldn’t believe how nice this thing is to run on. I will definitely be going back tomorrow! Beautiful!
I felt surprisingly ok on this run, considering the time change and the 1 hour of airplane sleep that I got. It was likely due to excitement (which I need to contain for race day) and just really nice running weather.

Solid workout. Feeling more energized after my sickness. Felt a lot better than Thursday, but still not 100% normal. With the way that I felt today, and still running 8:58, 9:01, when the sickness is all out of me, I’ll be ready for race day come Saturday. Travel this afternoon to Valencia, Spain.

Rest Day

Post Workout Blog:
Day off today. Went for a 90’ (90 minute) walk through Guelph lake trails to move around a bit. Nice and sunny day out, so good to get outside. Feeling a little better than Friday. Hopefully can try a run tomorrow depending how I feel. WEEK TOTAL = 69 miles.

Definitely think I am sick, or my body is fighting something. Today I’ve been feeling weak, and this 35’ run was a struggle to get through. Will be taking the day off tomorrow and getting rested to get rid of this bug asap.

3 x (8’ tempo, 2.5’ jog rest, 4’ V02), with 5-6’ jog rest between sets

Post Workout Blog:
Felt like shit. First set felt ok, second one felt bad, 3rd 8’ didn’t feel good at all, and couldn’t mentally finish the workout, and ended on a 400m. That was tough. I’ve had a bit of a cough and felt really weak and lazy all day, so my body might be fighting something. My body will work through it fast. Still positive thoughts going into Spain, and looking forward to departing Monday!

Good workout. Felt good, ran pretty quick, good effort and nice to have a group on post-collegiates out there again. Rolled quite well on the last one, closing in about a 62” 400m.
