Houston Half Marathon
Post Workout Blog:
2018 Houston Half Marathon in Houston, Texas
- new PB in 1:04:05!
- great race
- felt very smooth
- took off with Canadian men
- found 3k in that I was moving up slightly, and managed to latch onto the lead marathon pack
- stayed with them from 2.5 miles to 8 miles, and then they split off to run the full marathon course
- I was settled in running with them, and clicking off constant 3:02/km pace
- when they separated at 8 miles, I was on my own for the remainder of the race
- told myself to keep honest and stay engaged in the moment
- I passed Cam Levins around 8.5 miles, and rolled by him
- I was slowly catching up to an American (Andy Wacker) and passed him with 800m to go
- I strongly feel that if I had a group to run with to the end, I could have run 63-mid
- I felt very smooth, trusted my training, and had a good mentality prior and during the race
- a step forward for me, and excited to stay hungry, composed, confident, and relaxed

Workout: 4 x 9' on 3' jog rest @ college loop
- appropriate medium effort today
- snowed beforehand, so road a little sloppy, and just good to get the effort in and not worry about paces
- good first workout of the year
